Bhojpuria.com has received Manthan-AIF Award as India's best eCulture website.

The Award has been given every year in 14 different categories by Digital Empowerment Foundation. American India Foundation, UNICEF, Centre for e-Governance (Government of India), Uttaranchal Government, Dataquest were among the partners for Manthan Awards. The Manthan-AIF Awards are a part of World Summit Awards. At NCUI Auditorium, New Delhi, Dr R Mashelkar, Director-General, CSIR and Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research presented the Award to Sudhir Kumar and Shashi Singh on behalf of Bhojpuria.com. As a winner of this award, Bhojpuria.com has now been automatically nominated for the prestigious World Summit Awards to be held next year in Geneva.

Bhojpuria.com proved to be an eye-opener for the entire National Media in India. One Film Star Manoj Tiwari tried to spread a rumour that Dutch Govt have issued an official postal stamp with his photo on it.

While the big newspapers like Times of India, and The Economic Times were busy praising the actor (Type "dutch stamp Manoj"(without quotes) in google and you will see how popular the story became), and the television was busy showing his clips, Bhojpuria.com came up with the reality that there have been no stamp issuance. A Website with genesis in Jamshedpur has become instrumental in uniting the Bhojpuri-Speaking population across the globe. The website, www.bhojpuria.com, which came into limelight after winning the Manthan Award (for best e-culture website) this year, has now associated itself with stage shows to be performed by popular Bhojpuri artistes.

Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, October 9, 2006 /India PRwire/ -- The stage shows are aimed at popularising the language and uniting the Bhojpuri brethren. Officials of the website said leading Bhojpuri artistes would take part in the stage shows christened. ‘Bhojpuri Hungama’. Kumar claimed that the concert would be “an attempt to challenge the stardom of Bollywood”. The concert will kick off on October 26, with the first show in Bhiwandi.

“Though, we have not finalized all dates and venues for the concert, there may be a show in Bihar as well. Bhojpuri-Speaking people across the world eagerly await such concerts, as they seldom get a chance to watch such shows,” said Kumar.

Kumar said many Bollywood stars in recent times have associated themselves with Bhojpuri movies, providing a new glamour quotient to the language. “The language is fast gaining acceptance not only in India but also in other countries. We hope such mega shows will give a new identity to the language. We are trying to popularise the show through our website,” he said.

Yes, its true, your very own Bhojpuria.com received the prestigious Manthan Award as the India’s best eCulture website on 5th August, 2006 at NCUI Auditorium, New Delhi. The Award is given every year in 14 different categories by Digital Empowerment Foundation.

Bhojpuria.com proves its point on stamp issue
Bhojpuri film actor Manoj Tiwari's lie has been busted by Bhojpuria.com. The actor had made claims that the Netherlands government had dedicated a postal stamp to him. It turned out the stamp was a personalised one and not official.

AST MONTH, the entire Bhojpuri film industry was shocked, when Bhojpuria.com came up with the news that the Dutch postal stamp issued on Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari is not actually an official stamp; but a personalised one, which can be made by anyone on paying some price to the TNT Post (the private agency, which works as the postal department in Holland, Netherlands). Reacting to the news, Manoj Tiwari - in his column in a Hindi daily in Mumbai (and in a film Magazine) - blamed Bhojpuria.com as a website being run by a friend of Ravi Kishan. He even tried to question the credibility of the website.

"By the help of Ravi Kishan, some people are trying to defame me... this stamp is official and not a purchased one. Two Indian names were put forward for the honour - musician Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia and mine - the fact that I was chosen over a man of such stature and seniority fills me with both pride and humility," Manoj told a news agency. He even challenged media that if any other Indian gets this stamp, he will leave the film industry.

Now, to the worst of Manoj’s imagination, Bhojpuria.com has been successful in getting a similar stamp with the photo of the director of Bhojpuria.com - Sudhir Kumar. Other than the photograph, the stamp is same.

"We were pretty shocked by the allegations of Manoj Tiwari. We requested our visitors to help us prove our point, and one of our visitors from the Netherlands - Helga Kommers - posted the stamps to us in an envelope with my stamp on it," said Kumar, director of Bhojpuria.com.

"It is pretty easy to have this kind of a stamp made online with any photo on it, and it costs Rs 600(9 Euro) only. But, this facility is available only for the residents of Netherlands," added Kumar.

How come Manoj Tiwari got it?

As per a close associate of Manoj, he was in touch with a Netherlands resident (Arun), who made this stamp for him in return to some personal benefit. After that, Manoj used his stardom to encash this honour to the fullest extent. Arun, reportedly left India, on the same day the news broke up.

What Next?

Now, since Manoj is caught, will he leave the film industry, as he promised? Of course, it will be a big loss for the Bhojpuri film industry, and we do not want him to go; but what about the claims he made about Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasia - hence defaming him? Will the latter forgive him?

What about the false claims he (and his associates) made to the governor of Bihar? Will Bihar government forgive him for the same? ’You are invited to the felicitation ceremony of Manoj Tiwari, on the occasion of getting an official stamp by the Netherlands government’, was written on the invitation letter of the programme of ’Bhojpuri Viswa’, in which the governor felicitated Tiwari.

Also, is it so easy for anyone to fool media to use it in his/her favour? A noted English daily wrote an editorial on this honour, and everyone knows how the same editorial was used in media to prove the point, and to get more publicity.

Will the people of the Netherlands forgive him for using the name of their Queen and government just to prove a false point? The people over there are not happy over all this, suggests a Bhojpuria.com survey.

Should we forget how he tried to defame Bhojpuria.com on this issue?

Don’t you think that Manoj Tiwari had tried to defame the image of the Bhojpuri society by this shameful act? Don’t you think, this incident will give yet another reason of non-trust to our enemies in Assam and Maharashtra?

Several more similar questions are there, which need to be answered by Manoj Tiwari only.

Get free 'Chhath' prasad online

A portal for the Bhojpuri speaking people has arranged for distribution of 'Chhat prasad' free of cost online in any part of the country.

Devotees living in any part of the country can receive the prasad by applying to the portal online to get it delivered within 48 to 72 hours depending on the distance, said Sudhir Kumar, director of the portal.

Online booking has began from this morning and will continue till October 25, he said adding that the prasad -- 'thekuas', apples and kaju barfi -- will be distributed through courier service free of cost.

Kumar said bhojpuria.com had started the online free prasad distribution service about five years ago. While 170 people applied in the first year, the figure mounted to over 400 last year. "We expect more than 600 application this year," he said.

Bhojpuri playback singer-cum-actor, Manoj Tiwari and Ashok Gupta, chairman of Magic TV, a Bhojpuri channel, have agreed to sponsor the prasad distribution this year, he said.

Besides Prasad, Kumar said, e-greeting cards in Bhojpuri language for Chhat festival was also available on the portal free of cost.
